NHL Returns to Host its Annual Awards in Las Vegas
The National Hockey League will host its 2010 Awards in Las Vegas at The Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Hotel on June 23. The 2010 NHL Awards celebration will feature the League naming its top players for the regular season in a host of categories including, most valuable player, outstanding goaltender, outstanding defenseman and outstanding rookie. Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg will attend as a special presenter with performances by Shinedown, Snoop Dogg, Cirque du Soleil and Jersey Boys. Tickets are on sale now for the event and can be purchased at Ticketmaster .
Fremont Street Experience is Getting Groovy with "Summer of the ?70s"
The music and culture from the decade of the 1970s will return to downtown Las Vegas this summer as Fremont Street Experience presents the "Summer of the ?70s" festival and free concert series. The 102-day promotion will kick off Memorial Day Weekend and run through Labor Day Weekend. To open the "Summer of the ?70s," Fremont Street Experience hosts disco diva Gloria Gaynor for Memorial Day Weekend on May 29 followed on June 5 by glam rockers Sweet during the Vegas Cruise car show weekend. The Little River Band will be featured on July 3, during the Fourth of July Weekend, Blue Oyster Cult will play August 14 and Jefferson Starship will rock Sept. 4 during Labor Day Weekend. Other summer activities include an Ultimate Elvis Weekend with Tribute Artist Contest and 10 weeks of tribute bands Tuesdays through Saturdays. Nu Sanctuary Brings Dining, Nightlife to Las Vegas
Nu Sanctuary, an imaginative new restaurant and lounge, has opened at Town Square, Las Vegas. Symbolizing a new beginning, and inspired by the works of Salvador Dali, the restaurant features a sprawling tree, world-class art, religious representations, and an outdoor patio. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Unveils HRH Beach Club
As part of the resort?s $750 million expansion, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has announced the opening of HRH Beach Club, doubling the existing pool vicinity to encompass five acres. Cathouse Converts Entirely to Ultra Lounge
Cathouse, the restaurant and nightlife destination at Luxor, has announced that it has converted the entire 7,000-square-foot venue into an ultra lounge. Inspired by a 19th century European bordello, Cathouse is made up of two complementary rooms, each with its own DJ booth. "Only You" Starring Derek David Opens at Hennessey?s Tavern on Fremont Street
"Only You," a revival of the true dinner show, is now open at Hennessey?s Tavern in downtown Las Vegas. The show stars Derek David, a former member of the Platters, along with a collection of some of the greatest singers in Las Vegas including members of the Coasters and Marvelettes. Springs Preserve Announces Inaugural Brews and Blues Festival
The Las Vegas Springs Preserve will present its inaugural Brews and Blues Festival June 5. The event will feature sample beers from a wide range of microbreweries including Chicago Brewing Company, Deschutes Brewery, Gordon Biersch, Grand Canyon Brewing Company and more. The event will also feature blues bands Ronnie Rose, The Lucky Cheats, Cordle-Scott Band and others. Papillon Airways, Inc. has launched its new Hoover Dam Helicopter Tour. Departing daily from either their Las Vegas or Boulder City terminals, the tour flies at low level over the Hoover Dam in a deluxe state of the art EC- 130 Eco-Star helicopter. The tour flies over Lake Mead, America?s largest man-made reservoir, the tributaries of the Colorado River and the beautiful Black Canyon before returning.
