Las Vegas Double Down Saloon

The Las Vegas Double Down Saloon is an atypical Vegas bar, located far from the glitzy lights of the familiar Las Vegas Strip, and a short walk from the Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. It is essentially a dark dive bar, offering an alternative Las Vegas nightlife experience. The place is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. In fact, it has been open non-stop for over 16 years. Unlike the majority of the Las Vegas hangouts, the music played at the Double Down is hard and alternative – punk, rock and beyond. The crowd here is often “unusual” and TV screens play strange horror and grindhouse movie clips all day (and night) long.

The Las Vegas Double Down Saloon’s appearance may be a bit rough around the edges, but the place is actually friendly and fun. The crowd is composed of rocker and trendy locals, as well as tourists who want to get an authentic taste of Las Vegas and meet local people.

Although small and far less glamorous than many of Vegas’ finer bars, the Double Down Saloon offers a large selection of domestic and international beers as well as spirits and outrageous house cocktails, all ridiculously cheap, compared to prices elsewhere on the Strip.

Like every other place in Vegas, there are also slot machines at the Double Down Saloon, where you can play with refreshingly low minimum bets.

Most of the time, the music at the Double Down Saloon Las Vegas is provided by a jukebox with a selection of rock, punk and psychobilly tunes. The music is played at a surprisingly pleasant volume, as to allow for comfortable conversation. Later at night, things get a little louder and rowdier as the Vegas Double Down Saloon’s tiny stage often hosts a variety of bands, including many local bands. Another great benefit of the place is that it is always free (i.e. no cover charge), even during its most popular band nights, when the place is rammed full of locals.

While it may not be to everyone’s taste, the Vegas Double Down Saloon offers a glimpse of an entirely different side of Vegas nightlife. If you think you’ve already seen all that Vegas has to offer, this might just be the place for you.
