Las Vegas Minus 5 at the Mandalay Bay Casino Hotel is the sixth bar of its kind in the world. While the first one is located in New Zealand, the Las Vegas location, smack in the middle of the desert was handpicked by founder Craig Ling for the first frozen bar to open its doors in the United States.

The whole experience at Vegas Minus 5 works according to clockwork. You pay your entrance fee, are given warm clothes to wear (a parka and gloves), watch a short movie explaining the conditions inside, and then enter the pub itself, which of course is made of ice. Once inside, your stay is limited to 30 minutes, just enough time to soak in your cold surroundings.

Inside the Vegas Minus 5 bar everything is made of ice - the walls, the seats and even the drinking glasses. In fact, the vodka-based cocktails are served in truly recyclable glasses – made of ice – which simply melt in your hands within minutes of use.

To add to the icy ambience, amazing ice sculptures are scattered around the venue including life-size replicas of humans and cars.

The bodily experience can be "refreshing" at Minus 5 Las Vegas, especially if you’re not used to the cold. Once your 30 minutes in Minus 5 Vegas are over, you and the other guests are ushered into a warm-up area in order to reacclimatize to the Vegas heat.

If you’re looking for a cool experience on the Vegas Strip, then Vegas Minus 5 is the ideal place to visit.
