Legendary Tropicana Las Vegas Embarks on a New Transformation

Tropicana Las Vegas has begun a $165 million Phase I transformation was completed in April 2011. The property will feature a redesigned façade, all new rooms and suites, all new amenities, restaurants, bars, entertainment and nightlife options reminiscent of South Beach with an island vibe. The four-acre pool area will become a tropical beach resort and the casino will add a new poker room and race and sports book. No corner of the property will remain untouched. The conference center transformation is already complete with more than 100,000 square feet of versatile meeting space to accommodate up to 3,000 people.

Cirque du Soleil to Develop Michael Jackson Shows

The Estate of Michael Jackson and Cirque du Soleil have joined forces to create touring and permanent shows based on the music and songs of Michael Jackson. Special lifestyle projects, including a Las Vegas nightclub, will also be developed. An arena-touring show is expected to debut in late fall 2011. The Las Vegas permanent show, in partnership with MGM MIRAGE, is expected to open in late 2012. The show’s location and theatrical venue will be announced at a later date. Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall and Bar-B-Que Opens at Treasure Island

Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall and Bar-B-Que, once a favorite destination at the New Frontier, has re-opened inside Treasure Island. The 10,000-square-foot venue seats 125 people and features convenient access from both the casino floor and from the Strip near Sirens’ Cove. Gilley’s offers live music, a dance floor, a mechanical bull and a full-service show kitchen open for lunch and dinner.

Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino to Debut Crown Theater and Crown Nightclub

Industry veteran Darin Feinstein, of Hollywood’s world-famous Viper Room, brings Crown Theater and Crown Nightclub to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino this summer in the former 3121 space. The venue’s 900-capacity unique, in-the-round design will feature performances by some of the biggest, as well as upcoming, names in music as part of Crown Theater’s offerings. As the night progresses, so does the venue, becoming Crown Nightclub, a nightlife spot away from The Strip providing a mix of themed nights with a variety of music.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Morgans Hotel Group have opened SKYBAR. As part of the $750 million property expansion, SKYBAR is perched above the HRH Beach Club, offering guests a sundeck with acrylic-edge pool during the day and a sophisticated lounge by night. Caesars Palace Introduces Octavius Pool Villas

Caesars Palace Las Vegas has unveiled its new Octavius Villas. Located in the recently constructed Octavius Tower, the three villas average 8,800 square feet, each one with a thematic design scheme from France, Greece and Spain, and named for a Roman emperor who resided in the region. The villas overlook the Garden of the Gods, the resort’s newly-expanded pool complex that made its debut in March 2010. Each villa includes a private elevator; hand-painted wall murals and ceiling designs; a billiard room; a plush home entertainment theatre; whirlpool bathtubs, a spacious private terrace, with spa tub, and fire pit. Villa guests may also enjoy the luxury of private butler and concierge services.

Rock & Rita’s ’Great American Party’ Coming to Circus Circus

The "Great American Party" will arrive at Circus Circus with the June opening of Rock & Rita’s, a new bar, restaurant and entertainment hot spot.
