Cirque du Soleil O
“O,” the only aquatic show amongst the many Vegas shows, is the result of another fruitful cooperation between the Las Vegas magnate, Steve Wynn, and Cirque Du Soleil. The $100 million theater built especially for the show is a modern wonder of beauty and technology.
The Las Vegas Cirque Du Soleil cast of 85 includes world class performers of all trades including acrobats, divers, actors and synchronized swimmers. This aquatic odyssey is accompanied by live music played on instruments (some of which are over a hundred years old). Throughout the entire soundtrack, echoes of the unique Chinese traditional bowed string instrument can be heard in the background.
Cirque Du Soleil – French for Circus of the Sun – is a Canadian entertainment company based in Montreal, Canada. Founded in 1984 by Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier, two ex-street performers, Cirque Du Soleil won the coveted Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience in 1991. Since then, the company has expanded rapidly, going from a single show to over 4,000 employees, producing 19 shows, in more than 200 cities worldwide.
Hosted by the fabulous Vegas Bellagio hotel, the Vegas’ Cirque Du Soleil “O” show is performed both in and above a 1.5 million gallon pool. The theater is shaped like a European opera house, with 1800 seats. Its spectacular appearance adds to the marvelous magic of the show.
The Cirque Du Soleil “O” Las Vegas show is performed twice nightly at 7:30pm, and again at 10:30pm, Wednesday through Sunday.
Prices for the show range from $95 to $150, depending on the seats.
